Protection from Abuse
Protection from Abuse ("PFA") matters arise in cases where there has been bodily injury or if injuries are threatened. These cases may or may not involve children of the parties. PFA cases can be resolved in several ways - the entry of an agreed order, the withdrawal of the petition, or the litigation of the case. The outcome of a PFA case can greatly affect a person's future conduct, rights, and access to their children. Although the Pennsylvania PFA statute itself is a creature of civil law, a violation of a PFA can give rise to criminal charges. We understand the severity and magnitude of the issues involved in PFA litigation and we always strive to obtain an outcome that is in our clients' best interest.

Family Law Overview

Divorce, custody disputes, child and spousal support, and Protection from Abuse issues are modern-day realities. The family lawyers at Wolf, Baldwin & Associates, P.C. bring experience and dedication to all such matters, and we work together with our clients to resolve their cases in a way which serves their best interests.

Divorce
Divorce actions are primarily concerned with undoing the economic ties that bind. Property division (also called equitable distribution) and alimony are some of the economic issues that we deal with in resolving a divorce action. Frequently, all of the economic issues involved in divorce can be resolved through the use of marital settlement agreements, contracts between the parties that serve to settle forever their issues and disputes. If litigation is required, you should expect tough representation and thorough knowledge of the law on your side. Whether privately settled or litigated in the courts, we handle our clients' divorce-related economic issues with expertise and efficiency.

Custody
Issues surrounding children are frequently some of the most difficult problems people face. When custody disputes arise, we assist our clients in navigating the court system through every step, from mediation to conciliation to advocating in the courts. These cases present issues of primary physical custody, shared custody, visitation, legal custody, and relocation, to name a few. Custody disputes can be resolved by the parties by written agreement or after litigation by a judge. Our attorneys have experience with every level of custody dispute. We know that custody issues are some of the most important and compelling issues in any person's life, and we handle these cases with reverence and compassion.

Support
Support issues, both child support and spousal support, are largely resolved in the light of the Pennsylvania support guidelines. These cases proceed through the court system in a tiered process starting with a conference, followed by a master's hearing, and finally, if necessary, to a judge. Support matters frequently involve intricate financial analyses, depending upon the financial circumstances of the parties. These matters may also involve issues relating to children's needs, education, and welfare. We have the knowledge and resources to calculate support orders and to ensure that our clients pay or receive what is fair.
